China’s State Council signed its 2026 to 2030 employment plan on June 11 and published it on June 17. It calls for research into a system to track AI’s effect on employment and an early-warning mechanism for at-risk jobs, though the language is vague. The plan sets no target for new urban jobs, unlike the previous plan, and notes flexible employment is projected to reach about 320 million people. Bloomberg, cited by TNW, reports authorities may use electricity use, social-insurance records and mobile-payment data.
