Abu Dhabi’s Executive Council Just Governed With An AI Committee

On September 17, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed chaired the first Abu Dhabi Executive Council meeting run partly through an agentic AI platform that analyzed proposals, generated executive summaries, and delivered real-time analytical support with full traceability to source documents. The council approved decisions ranging from a nursery-capacity expansion to a 2030 IVF success-rate target using the system, part of the UAE’s stated goal of delivering half of government services through AI agents within two years.

Norm's Take

The UAE is not piloting agentic AI in a sandbox; it is running actual cabinet-level governance through it, with traceability built in as the trust mechanism. Executives wary of giving agents decision support at the board level should study this traceability architecture rather than dismiss the use case as government PR.
